Title: These Eyes
Rating: G
Word Count: 465
Characters: The Top, Henry Allen, that twerpy kid Jack.
Summary: Filling in the blanks of the possession story.
Warnings: None
Notes: I wrote this months ago, but never got around to posting it since it's so short...but after the Henry Allen scanposts, why not now?

Roscoe was idly watching Barry Allen’s parents, as he sometimes did. It wasn’t like he had much else to do. Dead and disembodied for several years, he had to amuse himself somehow. Watching his beloved Lisa too often seemed creepy and wrong even to him, so instead much of his time was spent observing the people he disliked so intensely. He felt no shame in staring at them and imagining what he’d do to them if he could.

Henry and Nora Allen were driving to Central City to visit their son, and the trip had been completely uneventful, apart from some worrying about his love life. They did not notice the oncoming car drifting into their lane until it was too late, and Henry’s desperate swerve to avoid it sent them plunging down an embankment.

Roscoe was startled by this turn of events, but quickly saw an opportunity. Overcome by his injuries, Henry’s aged heart stopped, and his soul began to leave his body; as it did so, slowly rising above the corpse, another soul approached.
“Thanks for the body,” Roscoe told Henry, and prepared to jump into it. He wasn’t sure he could pull it off, never having tried it before, but had confidence in the strength of his mental powers and years of experience as a spirit. In contrast, Henry’s soul was confused and unprepared for what was happening.
“No, wait!” the newer soul protested, but was too slow to do anything.
Roscoe entered the body, and it suddenly convulsed with life. The boy performing CPR on the old man was elated, believing he’d successfully resuscitated him, but did not know it was due to the presence of an astral intruder.

Roscoe was shocked by the sensation of having physical form again, and let out a strange yelp of pain and delight, the body responding as though it were his own. Pain from its injuries shot through him, but he rejoiced in the experience, glad to be able to feel something again. Fortunately, the ghost’s presence strengthened the body and healed some of the damage; there would be no point to inhabiting a shell that couldn’t survive.
“Alive…” he whispered, a happy tear sliding down his cheek. The young man with him naturally believed the accident victim was glad to have survived the crash, but could not have been more wrong. He patted the old man’s shoulder.
“You’ll be all right, sir…you have to be!”

As the boy ran to check on Nora, Roscoe stared up at the clear sky, a beautiful sight he was seeing for the first time since his death. He coughed a bit, weak from the body’s injuries, and thought about the only person in the world he’d ever loved.
“Lisa…” he murmured softly. “I’m coming back to you…”

he amuses himself with watching old people? the parents of his nemesis?
...well, if I were a dead, disembodied supervillain...I´d haunt my nemesis, learn his secrets, deepest fears...just my personal, evil opinion^^

but it is sweet that his first thought after "I´m alive" is "Lisa"
awww

Well, we know he did that -- what I was hoping to convey was that he watched Barry, Iris (when she was still alive), Henry and Nora...anyone connected with Barry. I mean, when you're a ghost, you don't eat, sleep, or bother with anything related to having a body, so what else are you gonna do? :] But Barry can't be all that interesting when he's sleeping or staring at something in his lab, so you go off and do something else.

Anyway, I had to come up with an explanation for why he was obviously on the scene when the Allens crashed (since he wasn't responsible for the accident), and we know he watched Barry, so watching the Allens too seemed as good a reason as any.

Thanks for the comment! :)

Oh, Henscoe fic!

"Watching his beloved Lisa too often seemed creepy and wrong even to him,..."
Heh. I'm glad he realizes that, because, yeah, that would be creepy.

Now you've got me wondering why Henry's soul didn't move on to an afterlife when he died. I can easily see Roscoe's ill-defined "mind-over-matter" powers letting him hang around after death, but it seems like Barry should have had to retrieve Henry's soul or something after defeating Roscoe. I guess it just wasn't Henry's time, and he was supposed to get back into his body, but Roscoe got there first.

"...there would be no point to inhabiting a shell that couldn’t survive."
And now I'm imagining zombie Henscoe running around looking for brains.

“Lisa…” he murmured softly. “I’m coming back to you…”
Romantic, in a creepy, Roscoe sorta way.

Awesome ficlet, Lia!

I think that must have been the case. And Henry must have been watching the whole time, if he knew to get back into his body so quickly after Roscoe vacated it; I would think Roscoe would try to go back to Henry's as soon as he was blocked from Barry's. Whole lotta body hopping going on.

I just wonder what Henry must have thought about Roscoe using his body to shag Lisa :]

Probably, "Woo, now I have something to think about in the shower!"

(sorry my mind is stuck in bad taste right now)

That caption's adorable! Zombie Roscoe, vampire Mark, and Evan's orange/green color scheme makes me think of pumpkins, in a vague sorta way. Poor Len!

I actually did a MM/pumpkin joke in one of the others :]

Here are the rest (but beware, they are pretty damn stupid).

I do think Mark looks like a vampire there, which is kind of weird. He looks like he's wearing a black cape with a Dracula collar and evil eyes. And, well, Roscoe's pose is obviously a given for a zombie joke.

Poor old Henry. Well, it's possible that Roscoe acted as a placeholder and made it possible for him to re-inhabit his body later on. So it wasn't all bad ^_^
